Human Trafficking prevention and awareness fortnight of Kalimpong District Police.
The human trafficking prevention and awareness fortnight of Kalimpong District Police culminated with a seminar on the 30th July, also observed as the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Eminent speakers graced the occasion, including Executive Director of Shakti Samuha, Bal Kumari Darlam, Mrs. Anju Sherpa of the International Justice Mission and Sister Subeshna Thapa of Bal Suraksha Abhiyaan. The programme was attended by around 400 students of schools and colleges from Kalimpong.
The Ld. District and Sessions Judge, Superintendent of Police and District Magistrate, Kalimpong, were also present.
On this occasion, a complaints box for school children was also unveiled, titled “Police Saathilai Bhannuhos”. This box shall be installed in one school of every GP in the district. School children shall be free to drop any complaints/grievances/troubles they are facing into this box and the police shall go through it. This will give an avenue to the children to reach out to the police within the confines of their school premises.
